Councillor Sites Visit

On Saturday 8th August 2026 members of the CEG team and local residents welcomed Councillor Fran Belbin (Leader of the Council) and Councillor Angela Argenzio (Leader of the Green Group) for a tour of the proposed Green Belt sites in Chapeltown, Ecclesfield and Grenoside. Together with a representative from Marie Tidball MP's office, the Councillors embarked on a three-hour visit to all seven local sites.

The information that was prepared and handed to the councillors on the day can be viewed by clicking on the links below.

For each site there is a two page document, with the first page giving a concise summary of the key facts, constraints and concerns. The second page shows a map of the proposed allocation.

An additional briefing combining all seven sites can also be viewed below. This briefing looks in more detail at the cumulative impact of the proposals on local roads and infrastructure, as well as the environment and our existing communities.

Finally, we also included our AI-generated illustrations which show how some of the local sites could potentially look if developed. Please remember that these have been mocked up by our team to aid with visualising the potential developments and are not actual plans that have been submitted by developers or the council.

A huge amount of research and evidence sits behind these short briefings. We wanted Fran and Angela to be able to see the issues on the ground and then take the evidence away with them to discuss with their Council and planning colleagues.

We are sharing the information here so that our community can see exactly what we gave them.

Seven sites – but one combined impact on Chapeltown, Ecclesfield and Grenoside.
