Community Counts
One of the real strengths of this campaign so far is how united the communities of Chapeltown, Ecclesfield and Grenoside have become, showing why being part of a community counts more than ever. This is why we have introduced a new feature on our website - Community Counts.
Community Counts has been designed with you, our community, in mind. We are trying to gather as much evidence as possible before the next phase of the process begins. We have set up six Community Counts: Traffic, Trees & Plants, Wildlife, Brownfield, History & Heritage and Flooding.
If you have evidence in any of these six categories that you would like to share with us, please upload them to the relevant form on the Community Counts section of the website: https://www.saveourgreenbelt.net/communitycounts
Sheffield Plan - Next Steps
By now, most people will have received an acknowledgement of their submission. Submissions by email have a reference number starting with a 1 (eg REF 1.0001) and submissions by post have a reference number starting with a 2 (eg REF 2.0001). Submissions via the online 'Have Your Say' portal should have been acknowledged electronically straight away.
In the acknowledgment it states "Please note that by submitting a representation you have an opportunity to participate in an Examination hearing session*. Do you consider it necessary to participate in the Examination hearing session(s) as a participant?  "
Members of the Save Chapeltown, Ecclesfield and Grenoside Community Group have requested to attend these meetings on behalf of our local communities. However, if you would also like the chance to attend please express your interest in attending by emailing: sheffieldplan@sheffield.gov.uk
The more interest we can get in attending these meetings, the stronger our campaign becomes.
Issues with email submissions
We are aware that some people who submitted their objection via email have not yet received an acknowledgment or reference number. In most cases, this may be related to the outage of some email servers during the final week of the consultation period.
If you have not received an acknowledgement of your emailed objection yet, we would advise that you forward the email to: sheffieldplan@sheffield.gov.uk
By doing this, your original submission email will be attached, and this will be timestamped with the date and time of your original submission.
Save the date!
We have something exciting planned on Sunday 14th September. Make sure to pop the date in your diary, and more information will follow soon!
Response from Dr Marie Tidball MP
During the consultation period we asked people to cc their objections to our MP, Marie Tidball. Last week, Marie shared an email containing her own objection which she had submitted during the consultation process. Her response was very supportive of her constituents and shows that we have been listened to.
In her email Marie mentions that she will be holding surgeries to gather further information from her constituents. Members of the campaign group will be attending these surgeries on behalf of our local communities, but we would strongly advise you to also book an appointment if there is anything further you would like to discuss.
Spreading the word
We are aware that there are lots of Whatsapp groups for individual streets and neighbourhoods within our community. If you feel comfortable doing so, it would be great if you could share the link to our website and/or newsletter onto these groups as there are still people who have no idea that this is happening!
